Hinckley Bowling Club was formed in 1908 and now in 2008 we celebrate its Centenary year. A history of the club is being produced and should be available later in the season. Opening Day will be will be Saturday 5th. April and on that day we will have our new flag flying and the Mayor of Hinckley will get the proceedings underway, when he is invited to cast a silver jack. After the match and meal there will an evenings entertainment in the club house. The season will consist of the usual full programme of matches for the Saturday and Thursday teams and our four teams will be in action again in the Hinckley and District Triples League. We will also have extra matches arranged as Centenary Celebrations, these include visits from Bowls England, the LBA and the Midland Counties. In May we are inviting local clubs to send a rink to play in a Club Challenge match then in July we have asked our Past Presidents to reunite and play against a current HBC team. Earlier in July we have combined with the Ladies for a mixed joint celebration match. Hinckley Spa Lane Ladies Bowling Club celebrates their 25th. Anniversary this year; congratulations Ladies, I hope you all have a very happy and successful year. This is my 33rd. year with the club and second spell as President. I am very proud and honoured to have been elected President of Hinckley Bowling for 2008, this very special year. If anyone wants to “give the game a try” why not come along to our open mornings on Sundays 20th and 27th April 2008, you will be very welcome. Membership for the first year is free and you can join the rest of us as we celebrate our Centenary year. Best wishes to everyone, Enjoy your bowling
