Hinckley Bowling Club was founded in 1908 by a group of businessmen in the town and is celebrating its centenary this year. The original site of the club was on the corner of Highfields Road and Leicester Road Hinckley. That site was sold in 1910 and the club moved to its present premises in Bowling Green Road in 1911. The new green was formally opened by Mrs.Cholerton wife of the president of the club on 27th. May 1911. The event watched by a large gathering of members, wives and friends, comprised a ceremony of handing over the keys to the premises and then Mrs. Chorlerton was escorted to the green given a silver jack and asked to "throw it good and straight”. Thus Hinckley Bowling Club blessed its new home and with many successes, trials and tribulations on the way is still thriving there today.
