Ladies Club
Until 1983 the club was a male only preserve, but in that year the ladies got together and formed their own club called Spa Lane Ladies Bowling Club, so they will be celebrating 25 years when the men celebrate their 100th. year. They have a full range of fixtures generally on Monday and Wednesday afternoons and in the early days were not permitted on the green after 6.00p.m. This has now all changed and they can use the green without restriction. We have a number of mixed matches, the Thursday team play two fixtures against the Ladies and we call upon them to help us out when we are short of men to fulfil our regular fixtures.
You might ask in this era of emancipation or unification as it is known in the bowling world why we are not one club? Well both clubs value their independence and are happy to bowl and socialise together but remain as separate entities for the present. It is our intention to provide an area on this website in the near future for the Spa Lane Ladies to keep the world informed.
