Hinckley Bowling Club is one of the oldest clubs in Leicestershire having celebrated its Centenary year in 2008. It was formed by a group of prominent business men in the town who played initially crown green bowls in the garden of a large property near the Hinckley Water Tower. However, the club members wanted to play bowls on a flat green so they immediately set about finding premises then laid a green which was opened in May 1911. It is a tribute to the skill of those dedicated members that the same green is in use today and it is recognized as one of the best greens in the county.
